It seems like we are experiencing time of reconsidering now. We stopped traveling (and it’s the least of our problems) BUT now we can think over our life and decisions we make. How often it happened that tendencies define our way of life. Let’s be honest – very often. And it also affects the way we travel. Sometimes we chose where to spend our vacation not because we dream to visit a particular country. Sometimes it’s the outside pressure and stereotypes that make such a decision for us.
My recommendation is obvious, then. The destination you chose, the photos you make, the routes you create should define you and no one else.
It took me some time to admit, first and foremost, to myself that after a long way of trying to reach the way of my destination I actually need to rest. To sleep a healthy amount of time. To have breakfast without being late or feeling that I am missing another hour in a new city. As you can get I am not a hitch-hiking traveler. And that’s fine. If you don’t feel like you are up to this, don’t be.
And now I am 100% sure that it’s not for the sightseeing that we travel — it’s for the attachments we create.
When it comes to me, traveling is a point to re-evaluate what has happened to me, what is happening to me and what I am about to do. Because when I travel, it’s like I keep a distance from my routine and I am able to see more.
And now I am 100% sure that it’s not for the sightseeing that we travel — it’s for the attachments we create. There are a lot of cities and towns I want to see, and there are a lot of cities and towns where I want to come back because there are my dear friends waiting for me. Moscow, Gdansk, Chisinau, Minsk, Tiraspol became home for my friends, and I feel like I am an honored guest in these cities.
Making great friends, memories, photos (I try to keep it in this order), opening a new reality, escaping from routine, pretending that you are a wandering actor (or whatever you dreamed to be) this is what the traveling is about. That is why Travel as YOU like it. If you feel like you need to travel alone, do it. If you want to go somewhere with friends, do it. If you want to explore your country or to visit a country from the other end of the world, do it. (Yet, in any case, be sure you know all the necessary information.)
And make traveling more than just a must-see list.
